We preach sunscreen here at Real Simple, but we know that plenty of people have done their fair share of sun worshipping in the past. If you were a bathing beauty when you were growing up (or last summer) you might come across a new device the next time you visit your dermatologist.

A digital imaging tool called MelaFind, uses both visible light and infrared light to check to see if a mole might actually be melanoma. The great news is that in some cases this can  avoid the need for a painful biopsy, and you can get results right away. Check out the MelaFind website for more information or talk to your dermatologist.

And of course: Wear sunscreen every day!
