How to Clean Burnt Food Spills in the Oven

April 17, 2013 | By | Comments (2)

We’ve all been there: the casserole or pie you’ve been baking has bubbled over and is now burnt onto the bottom of your oven. Before you reach for the cleaners that should really come with a haz-mat suit try this trick.

Before the spill dries completely, cover it in regular table salt. The salt will soak up the spill, and once the oven is cool you can remove the salt (and the mess!) with a damp sponge. If there are any remaining bits try a cleaner like Bon Ami or Bar Keeper’s Friend before you break into the chemicals.

That sounds a wonderful tip. So much easier than scrubbing away and/or using nasty chemicals. Thanks for sharing!

This actually works! Also a little tip for cleaning out your microwave: Put a cup of water (in a coffee mug) inside the microwave, set it for 3 minutes. Walk away. That’s it just walk away (you can do it). Come back. Wipe it out. Easy-cheesy.
