2 Fun Cake Decorating Ideas

April 12, 2013 | By | Comments (3)

I don’t know about you, but I’m in the mood to do a little baking this weekend. Now to decide between these two fun decorating ideas.

The first is from Brit.co and uses waxed or parchment paper stencils to make bright geometric designs on individual cake pieces. I also love the idea of cutting up a cake ahead of time and serving the pieces like brownies, especially if you have a tiered serving tray. (I’d also love to try it for decorating sugar cookie bars.) Head over Brit.co to see the full step-by-step.

The second idea is from Bird on a Cake, and it’s a frosting tutorial for making a Hummingbird Cake. Isn’t it beautiful? This one might be a bit too ambitious for my cake decorating skills, but I do love how it looks. You can see the full tutorial at Bird on a Cake.
