For Fresher Asparagus, Treat Them Like Flowers

Fresh Asparagus

I’m so happy asparagus is back in season. When it’s fresh, it’s one of my favorite spring vegetables. But since I’m usually cooking for one or two, I don’t go through a whole bunch  in one meal. So I’ll be using this tip for storing asparagus in the fridge.

To make the spears last longer treat them almost like you would a bouquet of flowers. Trim the ends and place them standing up in an inch of water (a vase or a plastic tumbler should do the trick), then cover the tips loosely with a plastic bag.

Love when asparagus spears start appearing in the garden. They also grow wild around here and finding a patch is like finding gold.
