Running Shoes vs. Cross-Trainers: Which Do You Need?

If you’re in the market for new athletic shoes here’s how to tell whether you should be buying straight running shoes or if you’d be better off with cross-trainers.

Opt for running shoes if: You plan to walk or jog 95 percent of the time. (And choose running shoes over “walking” shoes because they are built to last longer and fit a variety of foot types.)

Opt for cross-trainers if: Your workout routine involves aerobics, weight training, or group classes like kickboxing. If you’re moving side-to-side at all, get cross-trainers.
