Doctor's File

If you’re the type who gets flustered when you go to the doctor, be prepared next time by being able to answer these four questions. Not only will they help you clearly explain your symptoms to your doctor, but they will let him or her know why exactly you thought your issue warranted a visit.

1. When did you first notice the problem, and when does it occur?
2. What does it feel like, and what makes it worse or better?
3. Where did the problem start, and has it shifted location over time?
4. Why, exactly, are you at the doctor’s office? (For example, maybe you want to know if you need to take antibiotics, change your diet, or cancel your vacation.)

Get more tips on how to make the most of your doctor’s visit.
