If you like to bake with whole wheat flour on occasion, think twice before you store it on the shelf with your container of all-purpose flour. Why? Because whole wheat flour should actually be stored in the refrigerator. Seal it in a zippered plastic bag, and when stored in the fridge it will last up to six times as long as when stored in the cupboard.

    I was wondering about if it should be stored at room temperature. My mom puts hers in the freezer. But since i am planning to be baking a lot, I am planning on kneading my own breads I will be buying the huge biggest bag, and that will take up a lot of room in the fridge!
