New Use for Empty Wine Bottles
I love the look of this simple glass planter made from an empty wine bottle. The best part is that it’s incredibly simple to make. All you need to do is remove the label and cut the bottle in half. For instructions on how to do that, visit HomeMade Modern (they even have a video showing you how to do it)
The best part, is that if you poke a few holes in the cork at the mouth of the bottle, any excess water will drain into the base of the planter. I’d also be interested to see if you could make it a self-watering planter simply by filling up the bottom of the bottle and letting the water seep up.
What do you think of this idea? (Don’t forget to check out more of our new uses for wine bottles and other recyclable items.)

Great idea!
so simple, and creative :)
It looks somewhat dangerous to do…
We may use pretty plastic bottles, that would be less dangerous
Vanessa, you’ll definitely want to take safety precautions, and it’s a project that adults should do, but it can be done easily if you’re careful. Al, suggestion of plastic bottles would also work.
So simple and creative. They are very clean and a great way to repurpose!
