A tailor can be your best friend, but when you are shopping for a coat, blazer, or a jacket pay attention to the fit of the shoulders. Sleeves can be lengthened or shortened, hems can be fixed, and waists can be nipped in or let out, but there isn’t much you can do to adjust a poorly-fitting shoulder. The seams should sit right over the bony edge of your shoulders—if they don’t, the purchase isn’t worth it.
