I haven’t had the luxury of having a washing machine in my home (apartment) for the past six years. And let me tell you it is the number one thing I miss about the houses and apartments I lived in in Kansas City and Des Moines.
Thankfully, I found out about the Laundry Pod awhile ago and have been putting it to good use in my apartment. Basically, it looks like a giant salad spinner with a drain in the bottom. It allows you to hand wash your sweaters, silk tops, tights, and more, and it’s easier than using the bathroom sink. And the best part? You can then spin your clothing dry, which is much more gentle than wringing it out—especially on your sweaters. (If you’re just washing one item you can also use your salad spinner. This is my all-time favorite new use.
Now this won’t replace my trips to the laundromat, but it does mean I can wash wool sweaters more easily and clean individual pieces when I don’t have time (or a full load) for a trip to the laundromat.
