If you’ve noticed a few sniffles or the stomach bug going around, it shouldn’t come as a surprise considering the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) reports flu season typically peaks in January or February.
So how do you keep yourself healthy this winter? Moderate exercise is just one way to help increase immune function and decrease your chance of catching the flu or a cold (great news for those of you who resolved to exercise more!).
Don’t go overboard though—prolonged high intensity workouts can actually make you more susceptible to illness. About 30-90 minutes of moderate exercise most days each week should be your target.
More ways to stay healthy during cold and flu season, and if you do end up with the sniffles it might be okay to keep exercising, which will only help you recover.
