An artificial tree not only keeps your home free from messy pine needles, but it’s also the ideal solution for allergy sufferers and people with pets. Unfortunately, artificial trees don’t provide the traditional yuletide aroma. And who doesn’t love the smell of Christmas?

Fortunately, there’s an easy fix for people with artificial trees (or my fellow apartment dwellers who are without a tree this year). Here’s how to fake the fragrance.

Toss pine needles, cloves, and cinnamon in a pot of water and simmer. Then, kick back and enjoy the scent of a freshly cut tree. That’s all there is to it!
