When Should Kids Start Volunteering?

Kids listening in a classroom

It’s important to get your kids involved in volunteer service and charity early so it becomes part of their lives. But when should you actually start bringing them along to volunteer?

Learnvest recommends getting kids involved in projects between the ages of 9 and 12. Before that, teach them about charity and sharing, once they reach nine they can start putting their skills to use. Be sure to choose a project that fits with their hobbies or interests, and don’t over commit them. You don’t want them to burn out before they’ve even gotten started!

Get more tips on involving your kids in charity work.

We’re donating $1 for every Facebook share, Facebook like, and Tweet (up to $1,000) on the posts tagged charity from November 15th on. The donations will go to Donor’s Choose projects that have been started to help classrooms affected by the storm.

You can find out more about Donor’s Choose here, and we’ll let you know when we’ve reached our $1,000 goal. So, start sharing and help us get these classes back in session.
