Family time means the world to me. In today’s busy world, it can be so elusive. With all of our appointments, it’s a challenge for everyone to be home together. So how can you find extra time to spend with your family? Work smarter—not harder— to complete your tasks and have more free time for your loved ones. Here’s how:
1) Time at work: During work hours, maximum productivity so you can leave on time (or early!). Arrive early so you can hit the ground running. Stay organized with a calendar and daily to-do lists, and look ahead to future deadlines. Telecommute if your company allows it. And take all the vacation due to you without a second thought. When you get home, power down—that’s why it’s called “quitting time.”
2) Time volunteering: When helping others, put boundaries on your time because there will always be more to do. Keep your compassion in check by deciding ahead of time what you can and can’t do. If you coach your child’s team, don’t sacrifice time with your child because you’re volunteering too much. Remember, don’t say yes until you’re certain you can commit.
3) Time at home: Find ways to save time on chores and organization. Use time-saving appliances like the Samsung King-Size High Efficiency Top Load Series to save hours on laundry—it shortens cycle times and maximizes load size. Try organizing the entryway or mudroom to conveniently catch the clutter (and dirt!) before it enters the house.
4) Time with family and friends: Make it a point to schedule time with loved ones. Block out time on your calendar every week and stick to it. Plan get-togethers (not just birthdays or holidays) so you can see family and friends more often.
