You might feel virtuous reaching for that bag of dried apricots, but don’t let the fact that you’re eating fruit go to your head. While they are certainly a better choice than a candy bar or bag of chips from the vending machine, dried fruits like apricots make it very easy to overeat.
With fresh fruit you’d likely stop at one or two apricots, but with dried it’s easy to grab a handful and keep snacking. But each of those dried apricots has the same number of calories as the fresh. So before you know it, you could have blown your diet with your “healthy” snack. To keep yourself from continuing to reach into the bag, try taking out 2 or 3 dried apricots and cutting them up. You can trick your brain into feeling like you’ve eaten more without really doing so.
