I’m Claudia Bloom, and I’m so happy to be back here for another summertime read, as I was last year with many of you.
Although our winning book, The History of Love, by Nicole Krauss, may not be exactly a “beach read,” I’m still very excited about its selection for August. When I led the book club last year, it was a runner-up, so I’m eager to dig into it now with you. I’m looking forward to discovering why this book has received so many amazing reviews and prizes, and excited to take this New York City–to-Poland and back again literary journey with the characters over many years.
As a longtime research editor at Real Simple, I confirm what our writers write and how our editors edit to make sure our readers have the right information in our monthly stories. I’m especially passionate about health and fitness, so I do the research work on most of those articles. It’s such fun for me—and helpful for you (I hope)—to learn more about topics such as the best core exercises or how to improve your memory.
Anyway, enough about me. Let’s get to the book. For our four-week reading plan, let’s break it up like this:
For August 3: Pages 1 through 64.
For August 10: Pages 65 through 134.
For August 17: Pages 135 through 191.
For August 24: Pages 192 through the end.
Enjoy your first chapters, and we’ll be chatting again soon.
