You’ve skipped breakfast as you’re rushing out the door to make it to an early meeting. Once there, do you abstain from the tray of pastries and hold out to lunch or should you eat something so your stomach doesn’t grumble through the meeting?

Surprisingly enough, the healthier option is to reach for the doughnut. If you haven’t eaten in more than eight hours, you’re going to be battling low blood sugar which will make it difficult to concentrate. Studies have also shown that people who skip breakfast generally eat more calories during the day. So, just look for the healthiest option in the pastry basket, and stash a healthier backup breakfast in your desk drawer for next time.
