Transitioning Into Summer

Although you wouldn’t know it by the weather in New York City lately, it is springtime. Even though I’m still wearing my leather jacket and my flip-flops haven’t seen the light of day, I am insisting on welcoming warm weather in at least one way: my perfume. Kim Spadaro, founder and creative director of Spadaro Luxury Fragrances, shared a tip on how to ease from one scent into another, from season to season.

“Layering is a great way to transition if you’re not ready to give up your winter scent. Try layering with a floral, green, or citrus,” said Kim.  “Go lightly on both to give a unique twist to your favorite.” What a brilliant idea! I may even use this tip in the winter, when I’m missing the sunny days of summer.

In the meantime, I’m wearing Spadaro’s fresh, grapefruit-y Sole Nero ($135, on top of my ivy leaves, violets, and musk Lolita Lempicka fragrance ($72, The combination smells delightful and reminds me that summer is just around the corner.

Do you have a winter or summer scent? Would you layer them? Try it and share your thoughts below.
