Hello, fellow Bookies!
How was your week? Two things rocked my world this week:
1. I got engaged!!
2. Tina finally went there, what we’ve all been waiting for: the Sarah Palin story.
“How to Succeed by Sort of Looking Like Someone” gave me a good chuckle. Who have you been told you look like? (I once got Jennifer Connelly, but I’m pretty sure the guy didn’t have his glasses on.)
Speaking of glasses, Tina’s have become quite a trademark for her. Do you have a trademark accessory? I just got one (in the form of a ring!).
I think Sarah Palin’s trademark would be her red suit—how daring! I love when she arrived at SNL. It demonstrated that she really wasn’t taking herself too seriously, and that she wasn’t offended (too much) by Tina’s mockery. How do you respond when someone mocks you?
In Tina’s ode to the Internet, she responds to cruel posts about her physique and talent with feigned politeness and sarcastic undertones. Negativity online is harder to deal with than a face-to-face confrontation—at least for me—because once it is out there in cyberspace, it lives on forever. I think that’s why cyberbullying has become such a huge issue. Since most of us haven’t grown up with it, we don’t necessarily have the tools readily available to deal with it. I think having a strong circle of friends helps. It certainly helped Tina to have Amy Poehler by her side.
I’m looking forward to meeting some new friends in the next chapter, “There’s a Drunk Midget in My House.” See you in a week to discuss!
