This week’s read brought me so many laugh-out-loud and “that reminds me of when I…” moments. I love when those happen to me when I’m reading (mostly because nearby strangers catch me laughing and muttering to myself!).
What made you crack up this week? For me, it was “Remembrances of Being a Little Bit Fat.” I’ve definitely sat in Burger King more than once in my life craving McDonald’s fries. And I wouldn’t accept a shake from just anywhere. It would have to be a Frosty.
This balanced meal of all of my favorite fast-food eats would, of course, only have happened back in the days before calorie counts were listed on every menu. Ignorance really is bliss! These days, there’s an app or a device to stalk you for every indulgence. Have any of you tried Fitbit? It’s a small device, the size of a USB port, that you attach to your bra and wear around the clock. It monitors how many steps you take, how many calories you burn, and even how well you sleep. The corresponding app shows your progression in nifty pie charts. I definitely see the value here, but I wonder, is it too much? After all, as Tina would say, everyone should try being a little bit fat at least once.
I really appreciate that advice and will definitely take it. Speaking of advice, what did you think of Lorne Michaels’? “The show doesn’t go on because it’s ready; it goes on because it’s 11:30.” It reminded me of Facebook’s mantra: “Move fast and break things.” How do you work best? Do you plan strategically in advance, or do you dive right in? I definitely fall into the move-fast category. I’d rather ask for forgiveness than permission (which you probably already knew from my diet*).
Well, that’s it for this week, folks! Leave your thoughts on food, Fitbit, and all things Tina in the comments section below. I’ll see you next week!
*Eating a Whopper, fries, and a Frosty definitely does not constitute a “diet.”
