Watering plants

Planning on starting a garden this spring or summer? This trick to tell whether or not your plants are thirsty will come in handy. If you have a tendency to over- or underwater check the soil to see if your garden needs a drink.

If the soil is rock hard, then your plants definitely need to be watered, but if you can grab a handful of dirt and squeeze it into a loose ball the, it’s just right and doesn’t need to be watered yet. Anything wetter than that, and it’ll need some time to dry out as well.
