Last-Minute Super Bowl Party Idea: Do-It-Yourself Nachos

Super Bowl Nachos

I’m a big fan of do-it-yourself parties—they get people talking, mingling, and interacting, which is the point of a get-together in the first place. Plus, people end up having a lot of fun when they get to be hands-on. Here’s an easy way to entertain for the Super Bowl if you’re short on time—just set up a nacho bar and let everyone customize his or her own batch of crispy, cheesy goodness.

Start by offering a few different kinds of tortilla chips (restaurant-style, blue corn, multigrain, whatever suits your fancy). Guests should lay out their chips in a single layer on a foil-lined baking sheet or ovenproof dish, then choose from the assorted toppings you’ve put out: shredded roasted chicken (from a store-bought rotisserie bird), pickled jalapenos, sliced black olives, assorted beans, chopped onions, diced tomato, assorted shredded cheeses, and so on. If you’re feeling motivated, you can also cook some ground beef or turkey and set that out, too. Once guests have assembled their platters, they can pop them into your oven, which is set to 350 degrees F, for about 10 minutes or until the cheese melts. Make sure to have garnishes like salsa, guacamole, and sour cream on your nacho bar, too, for guests to add after their creations come out of the oven. And there you have it—a super easy, fun, and tasty way to feed and entertain your Super Bowl gang.
