It’s Monday, and the verdict is in: I am thinner! Well, I don’t know if I’m actually thinner (I didn’t weigh myself this morning and my clothes feel the same), but I’m definitely less puffy and sluggish and I feel great! I credit that to making smart choices over the weekend.
It wasn’t all picture-perfect eating, but I did well enough to come out on the other side pleased with myself. A few highlights:
- Saturday was a bit of a mish-mash day in terms of eating schedule. I had a moms’ group event and then had to dash to pick up my daughter, so by the time the afternoon rolled around, I was feeling overly snacky. So I picked a bit at some so-so healthy snacks (mini fruit bars my mother-in-law keeps in her kitchen), but chased them with a giant bottle of water. Also: I realized I was hungry for soup for dinner. My lazy inclination was to stop at the grocery store for a can of soup on the way home, but I thought better of it and instead drove a few minutes out of my way to pick up fresh soup at Whole Foods. Those extra minutes were totally worth it when I finally sat down to eat.
- On Sunday, I woke up early and planned out our dinners for the week. Then I did a big grocery shop to stock up on what ended up being mostly vegetables (hooray!). Honestly, I don’t think I’ve ever had that many vegetables in my shopping cart at once. Later that day, instead of getting stressed at the thought of cooking, I reframed things and thought, this can be a relaxing activity. So I decided to enjoy chopping all of those vegetables to make a giant pot of minestrone soup, which even my husband gobbled up. Bonus: Now I have lunch already made for at least 3 days!
How about you: Did you have any eating victories this weekend? Did you succeed at being thinner by Monday?
