Since I moved to Paris I noticed that about every third restaurant I got to serves food on a slate board. Whether it is being used as a cheese plate or breakfast, slate boards are all the rage. I picked up a few and am surprised how often I use them. Sometimes you just want a small serving platter for cheese or bread or even used as a tray to carry out drinks. I’ve even seen them used with chalk to identify the type of cheese being served! Here in France you can find them for about $4 so they don’t feel too precious if you want to cut things on them. I found some at Crate and Barrel here starting at $10.
