Flor de Jamacia a.k.a. Hibiscus Tea

I bought this loose dried hibiscus tea (it’s actually the sepal from the Hibiscus flower) in my local market a couple of weeks ago. I was first attracted by the beautiful purple/pink color and once I figured out what it was, by the smell, I decided it was cocktail time!

I first rinsed the tea, then simmered it in a large pot of water with a bunch of honey. Once it was sufficently steeped, I strained it. After it was chilled I mixed it with a little Sailor Jerry’s rum and a lime slice. So refreshing – Makes me miss summer.

If you can’t find loose hibiscus substitute Red Zinger. Enjoy!
