How to Organize Recipes

If you can never seem to find your favorite recipe (was it in the red cookbook, or last month’s Real Simple), try creating a recipe index to easily put your hands on what you’re looking for.

Whether you use a card file, or even a document on your computer, record these things about each recipe:

  • Title of the Recipe
  • The cookbook or magazine you found it in
  • The page number it’s on

Then separate the recipes into the appropriate courses (vegetables, main dishes, desserts, etc.) and alphabetize them by recipe name. You can also include notes about when you made the recipe and what you liked (or disliked about it).  It’ll make finding your favorite dishes a snap.
