Are You A Nail Biter?

I’ll come right out and say it: I am. I’ve been trying to stop since I was a little girl. Even in fifth grade my best friend and I tried to stop together, thinking that solidarity would keep us from continuing this horrible habit–she has long since been cured. From foul-tasting polish to acrylic nails, nothing has helped me stop. Until recently!

The only thing that was able to get me to stop biting my nails was weekly manicures. Something about having my hands freshly polished and clean helped me stop focusing on them; and I wanted to continue to keep them pretty. After two weeks they were decently long, so horrified looks from the nail technicians stopped. Just a few weeks later, I have nails I can be proud of.

But when I don’t have time to get manicure it can be a problem. So I discovered two Essie products that help me create a quick manicure at home to keep me going strong.

to buy: Grow Faster $8 and Apricot Cuticle Oil $8 at

My first step is using Essie’s Grow Faster as my base and top coat. In the last week my nails have grown faster and stronger. When they aren’t brittle and breaking I am also less likely to pick at them. (Here’s how to strengthen brittle nails, too.)

My second must-have is the Apricot Cuticle Oil. My hands get super dry, regardless of the time of year, so keeping this ultra-moisturizing oil at hands reach all day is key. I swipe it on multiple times to create a stronger base for my nails to grow.

I can officially say I am no longer a nail bitter. I owe a big thank you to nail salons and Essie!
