Bonus: New Yorkers, Join Me for the Ice Cream Takedown
One of the most exciting (and nerve-wracking) things I’ll be doing as part of Ice Cream Month is competing in the Brooklyn Ice Cream Takedown, an ice cream recipe challenge. This is one of the few sweets/dessert recipe competitions run by Matt Timms, who normally spends his time doing Chili Takedowns and Bacon Takedowns.
So now comes the part where I would like to invite (and beg and plead) any of you following along with our Ice Cream Social who also happen to live in the NYC area, to join me this Sunday, July 17th (National Ice Cream Day) at 4pm at the Bell House in Brooklyn, to taste a ton of ice cream.
You’ll be able to find me by my bright blue Real Simple apron, so please be sure to say hello.
For those of you outside the New York area, have no fear, I’ll be blogging about the experience (and all 10 batches of ice cream I have to make just to compete) later this month.
I’m not going to reveal my super-secret recipe until after the competition. So in the meantime, tell me: What kind of ice cream you would make if you were entering?
