Bronzer Tips From a Celebrity Makeup Artist

The minute summer is here, all I wish for is glowing, bronzed skin. Of course, I'm not about to lie outside, because I still want healthy skin. My weapon of choice: bronzer. My only issue is how to apply it so it looks natural. Do you have that same problem?  Well, last week I met celebrity makeup artist Brett Freedman at an Elizabeth Arden press event, where he shared his tips on how to apply bronzer and what you should look for when shopping for one. Here's what he had to say….

Brett's Bronzer Tips

• When applying bronzer, begin at the bottom of your face and work your way up. Start at the jawline and finish by applying a little to your neck and décolleté, which are generally paler than your face. This will give you a natural-looking glow.

• Finding the right bronzer can be tricky. Opt for one with just a little bit of shimmer. A bronzer that is too matte causes skin to lose its depth, and one with too much shimmer can reflect light (or a camera flash) too much.

In addition, I asked around the office to find our staff picks for favorite bronzers.

These were the top three:

Guerlian's Terracotta Bronzing Powder

Elizabeth Arden's Pure Finish Mineral Bronzing Powder
