Meet a new gift to myself, the wood lamp designed by TAF Architects for Muuto in Denmark. Isn’t it the best? I love the simplicity of it, the exposed cord, visible screws, raw wood… it’s a nice contrast to the more modern lighting that is out there isn’t it?
I love how it looks on top of my PS SINKA cabinet along with my Dala horse that I found at a design fair in Stockholm back in 2007… and a simple plant in a handmade pot. There is not much to this arrangement of things but it looks rather pretty in its simple, no frills way… I have to keep a very clean office — not only organized and uncluttered but without a lot of color. I work best around yellow, gray, blue, white and some green — these colors stimulate me, but only in small doses in a work room. I cannot think too clearly when I have a lot of visual distraction. That is why this light suits me I think, the simple form, the basic wood, the raw construction of it… it makes me feel creative just looking at it because some of the best ideas are often the very pure and simple ones, aren’t they? Often it is a matter of getting back to basics.
