Who is the fairest of them all? When it comes to mirrors, you could easily have one in every room and it wouldn't be too much of a good thing. Mirrors are the great reflectors and masters of illusion. You can not only see objects from a different perspective but you can reflect light, enlarge rooms, add more color depending on what it is that they are reflecting — so they are practical and functional but should also be decorative if you select the right ones for the space. Mirrors are great to have in areas where you need them the most, like in the bedroom for seeing how your outfit looks from head to toe, or in the hallway for that quick lipstick touch up before you run out.
I'm moving soon to a new space and I'm already thinking of ways to use mirrors in my home to bring in more natural daylight into nooks where I know I won't be getting a lot of sun, and I'm thinking of ways to use mirrors more to reflect other parts of the room that I want to highlight. I'm looking to buy a full length antique mirror so that I can see my complete reflection because I think it may help me to accessorize my wardrobe better as I currently "think" something looks great until I'm out and see myself in a full length mirror in a store and wonder why I let myself out of the house wearing THOSE shoes with THAT skirt! What we think looks nice looking down at our feet isn't the same as when we look at ourselves, full view, straight on — is it?
These mirrors shown in this post that I've rounded up are from UK company Graham & Green and US company West Elm. All are great for adding character to a space, don't you think?
Do you use mirrors in the home to create a sense of space? To reflect light? To bring the outside in? To improve your fashion sense? To help you to avoid overeating? Mirrors are known for this by the way, my friend put a mirror in her small kitchen to increase the sense of space and, without realizing it, the mirror became a weight loss tool! She lost 20 pounds in a matter of months! Imagine that!

Hi Holly! Well, you’ve inspired me to go mirror shopping this weekend, they’re all ever so lovely! I think I like the Moroccan-inspired and ornate ones the most. And the kitchen trick… genius! Thanks Holly!
I have quite a few large mirrors in my house (which come in handy because the rooms are small and they really open it up)and I would like to spiff them up a bit with frames. Taking them to the frame store for a custom job is, of course, exorbidant. Would love some instructions as to framing mirrors to enhance decor!
That is very inspiring. Now, you make me want to buy mirror to enlighten my house. Thanks for the insight.
