I love a good D.I.Y. project. So when I find a blog that consistently has inventive and inspiring projects, I subscribe to their RSS feed ASAP. I’ve found two new favorites recently, Dollar Store Crafts and P.S. I Made This. They both have projects that are easy to do no matter your skill level and inexpensive to make (double bonus!).

Here are two recent projects that caught my eye:

Make a Blingy Chandelier from Dollar Store Crafts

D.I.Y. Pink Blingy Chandelier

With a handful of hanging fruit baskets, spray paint, beads, and faux teardrop crystals comes this chandelier perfect for a kids room or maybe a bathroom. It also looks to me like you could rig a hanging light through the holes in the bottom of those hanging baskets.

A few other faves from Dollar Store Crafts:

P.S. I Made This…Luxe Home Accessory

While most of the projects on P.S. I Made This are fashion related, there are occasionally some home decor ideas. And while spray painting random objects isn’t a completely new idea, I love, love, love the gold crocodile (or is it an alligator?). You can’t deny that this girl has an eye for great stuff.

A few other faves from P.S. I Made This:

Do you have favorite D.I.Y. blogs that I should be reading? Or are you planning any fun projects for the long weekend?

I also love Dollar Store Crafts! Two of my other favorites are OnePrettyThing and ChicaAndJo.com. OPT is a compilation of some of the best projects on the web. Chica and Jo do a lot of projects where they give you downloadables for free. They also explain everything in great detail so it is easy to replicate what they did. I will now have to go check out P.S. I made this, too…

The chandelier is amazing! I think I might have to make one and put a bird on it somewhere. Or a fish.
