Pillows by Marianne van Ooij
Industrial designer Marianne van Ooij told me about her new collection of silkscreened pillows recently and I thought I’d share them since they’re a bit different from the more trendy items on the market today. It’s fun to see what independent designers come up with and often it’s refreshing to see something less mainstream, isn’t it?
Marianne van Ooij is a Dutch designer living in Brooklyn who works in a variety of disciplines from textiles to furniture design – she is best known for her Slim Shelving. Slim was featured at the ICFF 2006 in New York and at HomeLand, an Exhibition of Contemporary Dutch Design, in the Bronx in 2009. Marianne currently screenprints her original designs onto pillows and sells them in her etsy shop, Soap Studiooos, and also on her website.
Would you snuggle up to any of these pillows? Do you have a favorite pattern? I like the gray pillows with the outlet and lightbulb and also the chair back pillows in both yellow and brown.
I hope that you had a nice weekend, I’ll meet you here again on Wednesday!
