Scenes from a Baby Shower

A couple weeks ago I attended the most charming Baby Shower, and have been meaning to share some highlights with you here. I frequently write about ideas, tips, and products for parties, but the most fun (and helpful) things I get to feature here are parties that happen in real life

We were invited for an “Afternoon Tea” – the perfect type of party to give if you want to go the no-booze route. The party was given by a sweet group of girlfriends of the mommy-to-be. It was held at the home of Nancy, who is oh-so-adorable and runs this cute little shop in the small town where they all live. (Definitely check out Lavish if you ever find yourself in Thomasville, GA.)

In the meantime, here are some pics I snapped at the shower, along with some steal-worthy ideas for the next shower you host…

Tea in high style! Loved the silver tea service.

Gifts galore. This is one lucky baby! Lots of loot. And yes, we did the sit around in a circle and watch her open the gifts thing, which I think most people like and expect at a shower. Don’t you?

Really amazingly yummy food – petit fours (my personal fave), tea sandwiches, scones, assorted cheese, and gingersnaps – attractively displayed.

A better look at the tea table, including the tiered serving dish with tea bags – several different varieties, each marked with cute personalized tags.

Also loving the sweet floral tea cups and plates (mommy-to-be is really into fine china, so this was a particularly thoughtful touch). If you don’t have enough of your own china for serving (who has 25 tea cups?), borrow an assortment from local friends – a mix-n-match approach here could be really fun…

And a delicious favor as guests leave – monogrammed cookies from the local stationary shop.

Hats off to the hostesses behind this lovely Baby Shower – they did an amazing job.
