Thanksgiving is such a wonderful holiday, but if you’re the party host, let’s face it… between all the cleaning, cooking, decorating, and hostessing, it can also be a stressful time!
Chances are good that you’ll be spending a lot of time in the kitchen already, so let’s try to keep things simple when it comes to the decor. Below is a quick and easy centerpiece idea that won’t take you more than a few minutes to whip together. It will require the use of a 3-tier serving dish, but this is the type of piece that you’ll be able to use over and over again for both food and decorative purposes, so it’s a great thing to have on hand for the future too!

Modern Harvest Centerpiece
You’ll Need:
• 3-Tier Serving Dish (Pictured here: 3-Tier Pastry Dish by Target Home)
• Decorative pumpkins & gourds in various colors
• Matching flower blooms
• Clear floral tubes (optional)
Directions:
Arrange the decorative gourds onto each level of the 3-tier server. In the example above, we used shades of yellow, orange, and plum for a rich, autumn feel.
Tuck a few large flower blooms into each level of gourds right before the party starts. For a longer-lasting centerpiece, first insert the flowers into small floral tubes filled with water.
Place on the table… and done! Now you can get back to tending that turkey in the oven! =)

Gorgeous and so simple. I have a 3 tier dish but it is quite different but still am able to adapt your idea using it, especially with my hand large green painted bowl plates. I was also able to throw in some of those new LED tea lites amoungst the decorations to add ambiance. It turned out fabulous! Thanks for the idea!
Beautiful! And since I just picked up a TON of gourds for a PENNY each I am going to be using this beautiful idea!!
Just a note to let you know how I am enjoying your Nov issue. I like the new columns. I don’t pick up Real Simple every month just when the issue seems to have an appeal for me. For example- the Aug or Sept issue had lots of back to school tips but my children are grown so I skipped that one. I will be sending in a must read book suggestion and my husband and I have really enjoyed the article on Holiday goofs !!! Thanks for the coupons off on a grocery item if I purchase a magazine, I will use it… I don’t buy many magazines as so many just center on stuff….of very little value. Blessed holiday season to your staff….
