Preggatinis: Mixology for the Mom-to-Be
My pregnant friend forwarded me a caipirinha recipe the other day along with a note that said, "Oh man, if I wasn't pregnant… These look so good! I guess I miss a nice drink more than I thought."
Well, fortunately for her – and the other millions of pregnant woman out there – there's a great book out by Natalie Bovis-Nelsen called Preggatinis that's full of creative, "lip-smacking, liquorless libations" designed especially for moms-to-be, and they sure look just as pretty as the real thing!
In addition to loads of pretty pictures and drink recipes, this book has a fun, playful tone and is sectioned out into witty categories like "Frolicking with Folic Acid" (part of the First Trimester: Germinate chapter) and "Belly Up to the Bar" (part of the Second Trimester: Proclamate chapter). Of course I have to mention the "Getting Down to Business" section too, which is part of Pre-Pregnancy: Procreate chapter and includes the following recipes: Sweet Nothings, Oyster Shot, and Pants on Fire. Pretty clever, right?!
Several of the recipes even have "De-virginize for Dad" modifications,
and in the final chapter you'll find some low-calorie options for raising a glass post-delivery without undermining those
weight-loss efforts!
Pictured above and below: a few sample recipes & liquid-eye-candy images from Preggatinis:
