Made By Anna is a sweet little etsy shop that I was recently introduced to by owner/artist Anna Betts herself – who is currently majoring in illustration in Cambridge, England. She has been researching collections for a university project which lead her back to an original love – watercolor paintings. In her shop she carries small collages and paintings inspired by things that she sees and places she visits… and of course collections — beads of a necklace, pebbles and feathers, and many are originals.
I value her interpretation of the things that influence her daily life because her work is organic, colorful and on a small scale which I find unique. Her work is simplistic yet powerful at the same time, proving that one does not always need to create bold work to make a statement. I also like to see how an artist like Anna captures a memory — she does this so well in her work – capturing moments and small pleasures. You can learn more about her paintings on her blog, Colour + Sound, where she shows most of what you'll find in her etsy shop along with a thoughtful explanation of how that particular piece came to be.
