Does Back-to-School season inspire more anxiety now that you're a mother than it did back in the day when your greatest concern was whether you had the cutest lunch box in the cafeteria? There are plenty of things to fret over as September approaches (all too quickly): How will I get my kids to do their homework? When will I find the time to pack them a healthy lunch they'll actually eat? How will I keep track of school and sports schedules for four different children?
to the rescue! We've teamed up with Pottery Barn Kids
to create an exclusive, complimentary class that will help make the transition back to school easy and fun this year for you and your kids.
Learn how to set up a "command center" to corral all the school paperwork and keep track of schedules, create the ultimate study space for your child (so they'll actually want to do their homework), and get tips on school-year food planning like grab & go snack stashes and easy brown bag lunches.
Participants in the class will receive a back-to-school booklet created by Real Simple exclusively for PB Kids, a 10% discount on items featured in the class, and a free copy of the Real Simple Family Issue, which is just chock-full of all sorts of helpful information.
You'll notice that Real Simple
's very own Suzanne Rust will be presenting the class this Wednesday evening in NYC (and again on August 22nd in California). If you live in the NY metro area and are able to make it into the city on Wednesday night, it's sure to be worth your while. Don't forget to RSVP here
to reserve your spot in the free class.
Why not make it a "girls night out with a purpose"? Get your mommy-girlfriends together, arrange for a sitter (or for Dad to watch the kids), and head into the city for an early supper and some back-to-school help.
I suggest grabbing a casual bite (around 5:30pm) at Le Pain Quotidien
(my favorite spot to grab an early dinner with my girlfriends) at 64th and Lexington, then head on over to the class at 69th and 2nd by 6:45pm. It will only take you 10 minutes to walk from Le Pain to the PB Kids store. Don't miss Le Pain's famous brownie
(hint: it's more like a mini-chocolate cake). And grab a bag of their homemade granola on your way out the door – the kids will thank you in the morning!
Can't make it into the city on Wednesday night? Not to worry – the classes are being held around the country on August 12th and 22nd. You can locate a store near you and sign up for the free class by clicking here
