We’re of the strong opinion that flip-flops should be relatively cheap. They’re laid-back and summery, and truth be told, we usually end up buying a new pair each season. Here are six pairs that’ll take you through a beach-y getaway.

Beachside casual
Rubber sandals like the absolute classic pair from Old Navy ($2.50) are an easy choice for pool trips or barbecuing in your backyard. Bath & Body Works’ zebra-print jelly flip-flops ($4) are a more fun take on the same idea.
Weekend errands
Pared-down and grown up, this printed-sole pair ($10.50 at Kohls) or a simple satin-strap sandal ($14.50 at Delia’s) are easy to pair with casual weekend ensembles, like maxi dresses or broken-in jeans.
Nighttime territory, maybe
The slight metallic sheen and faux snakeskin print on these sandals ($13 at Target) are a bit more dressed-up, as are the shiny straps and gold hardware on this Simply Vera Vera Wang pair ($13 at Kohl’s).

When it comes to flip flops, as opposed to sandals, I love Old Navy’s. I skip designs on the inside of the shoes, cute as they are, because they’re not visible once on your feet. The Old Navy ones don’t let my feet slip and side.
I’m not usually a brand snob, but for the past 8 years the only flip flops I’ll wear are Havaianas… so comfy!
