Bow wow wow! I found the cutest handmade things for pets over at Etsy today and I thought about those of you who may have little critters. Pets are a big part of family life, so I put together a few of my favorite finds below. I think they’re just purrrfect. :)

Shopping online will destroy your small little, “love it” dog/cat boutique…thanks for doing this…and keep up the good work…your small store will not be around much longer, and won’t be giving to your local charities either…but I bet you got a great deal online!!! Good luck getting them to donate to your local humane society! Support local businesses!!! Join the3/50 project, and make a difference!

Did you notice that all of these adorable products were found on Etsy.com? If you’re not familiar with Etsy, it is a totally amazing resource for quality handmade goods, and a perfect way to support some of the very smallest businesses. Many Etsy artists even donate proceeds to animal charities… check out the Etsy for Animals team here: http://efaartistshelpinganimals.org/
Etsy can also be a great way to buy local when you search for artists in your town by using the “Shop Local” option found on the home page.

Online sales represent an area of new artists, hard to find items, and a source of beautiful handmade items that are not easily available elsewhere. They provide an entry into the business world for many talented individuals that would otherwise not have an outlet to showcase their wares. These are handmade articles, not mass produced in factories in China. They do NOT take away from existing small business, rather they add another venue of sales. I don’t have any of these doggy boutiques in my area, so I shop online. These ARE local businesses to me!
Thank you for showcasing some very talented individuals, Holly!!

  7. The dog tank is too cute!
For handmade online my favorite is the coastal art of The Boardwalk at 1000markets, http://www.boardwalkartisans.com . Another must shop handmade market is http://tryhandmade.1000markets.com . It’s a gorgeous collection of handmade work.
