Is it strange and sort of gross to walk around smelling like a cocktail/vegetable/piece of candy? Or do you relish the opportunity to keep favorite food scents nearby all day?
I’ve found philosophy’s pink lemonade body butter ($25 at philosophy) to be pleasantly citrus-y and sweet but not overpowering…but still avoid using it before a (potentially perfumed) night out.
Demeter’s Hot Fudge Sundae Calming Lotion ($14.50 at Demeter), however, is meant to smell like a combination of jellybeans that are meant to taste like a hot fudge sundae. Which isn’t quite as up my scent alley.
Somehow edible scents are always more appealing to me in lip balm form.
Would you wear a food fragrance?

I recently bought some standard/no frills shea butter body moisturizer and it definitely smells like chocolate so putting any scent on afterwards is not a good idea.
I have used Ulta’s Orange Creme body moisturizer and it smells like an Orange Creamsicle. Not unpleasant once I got used to it.
Now Cucumber or vegetable scents would not be appealing to me. However I do remember getting a Williams-Sonoma dishwash liquid/hand lotion combo that was mildly scented with rosemary and it wasn’t bad at all…in the kitchen.
Its not right for a woman to smell like food. I dont know whether to snuggle up to you. Or take a bite out of your forearm. Keep it simple with the floral fragrances.
no, i dislike “food” scented beauty products, and most air-freshener products that smell like peaches, berries, vanilla, etc. yuk! I do, however, love the earthy smell of lavender, or floral fragrances like freshia and rose.
I like citrusy scents as well–they are fruity but fresh, and with enough sharpness that they smell sugary. I don’t mind vanilla lotions (although I wouldn’t choose one, I wouldn’t mind using it) but find the chocolate ones too much, because they make me want chocolate. I’m the opposite of Trix in that I find almost all flowery scents (rose and lavendar in particular) SO off-putting! Gardenia or jasmine are about the only floral scents I enjoy smelling at all, and I still wouldn’t wear them. Grapefruit it is!
I side with the florals. The only food fragrance I’d consider is lemon.
I just bought a handcreme from Sephora’s brand and as soon as I put it on the office, someone popped their head up and asked, “Who got flowers?” The lotion smells like you’re in a flower shop full of newly cut flowers. I’m not a fan of the fruit or vegetable scented lotions. I like lotions not to smell like I can eat it and that’s a comment I got from several male friends. But I am a fan of combination scents like Jo Malone’s scents.
I’m with Lulu – the delicate scents from Jo Malone (like Orange & Geranium) are lovely. Fresh has similarly great ones, like Sugar Lychee. But some of you have definitely hit it on the head – I’d rather not smell like something you could bite right into.
