I came a cross this project in last week’s Time Out New York. It is incredibly easy and I would imagine it is also relatively inexpensive. Especially when you think of how much designer light fixtures cost by comparison.
All it takes is some Y-shaped light socket adapters (TONY recommends 15 to 20) and small bulbs to go in the sockets. Then it’s a puzzle to put them together until you get a sculpture you like. After that they can be screwed into a ceiling light socket.
I would love to try painting the the socket adapters first to have something other than the industrial white. And I wonder if you could screw them into a wall sconce. I don’t know how sturdy they are when put together, but I think it would be kind of beautiful to have those climbing up your walls instead of hanging down from the ceiling.
What do you think? Would you try something like this, especially as a less expensive chandelier option?
